The centrifugal barrel tumble machines are particularly well-suited for removing large burrs and blending lines that can be caused by machining. These machines are also excellent for polishing and burnishing. Centrifugal barrel machines can be used with various kinds of ceramic or organic media (e.g. corn-cob), and can achieve almost any surface finish, from super-fine polishing to burr removal.
A centrifugal barrel tumbling machine works on the same principle as a Ferris-wheel, but has smaller baskets that are attached to the edges. The centrifugal finishing machine or harperizing systems has 4 barrels. Each one represents a seat in a Ferris wheel. One large flywheel is also included. Each revolution of this flywheel produces one complete rotation for each barrel. The flywheel rotates quickly and produces extremely high centrifugal pressures, up to 15 to 20 times greater than the force of gravity. Under high pressure, the contents slide against each other. The increased pressure allows fast processing of metal parts as well as consistent and smooth finishes.
These industry-proven finishing systems can be used with many types metals such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel and chrome. Because plastic is too soft for this process, this type of system will not deburr parts made of plastic.
Top/bottom machine processes both top and below the surface in one pass. Every square inch is processed exactly as it should be over the full width of the machine.

Centrifugal barrel finishing machines can perform each of these three types of work, also called steps. Depending on surface finishing specifications for your product, not all steps may be necessary. Your process might include a single step, two steps, or three steps.
A centrifugal finishing machine can increase the consistency of quality. Handwork has a maximum acceptance rate of 80%, but a centrifugal bar finisher can deliver much higher acceptance rates. Additionally, the surface finish of a centrifugal barrel finisher is consistent in all directions. It is not like hand polishing.
A polishing machine smoothens the product's rough edges, increasing its technical and aesthetic value...
A grinding cylinder is a disc or circular for machining by abrasive cutting action or for sharpening your cutting tools .
A grinding wheel is a disc/cylinder that can be used to machine using abrasive, cutting or sharpening tools .....
A centrifugal barrel part tumbler can reduce 95% of the work required to deburr or polish parts by hand. This reduces the amount of manual sorting and greatly increases production and returns on investment. The use of a centrifugal finisher to remove and identify any defects or burrs from each piece reduces the time and cost of using a microscope.
Polishing is usually a dry process with ground-up corncob used as media. The compound embedded in the polishing agent is included. Also, dry processing can be made with ground-up walnutshells.
Gulf States Saw & Machinery Co., Inc. has a complete line of printing finishing support products. These include paper joggers, press sealers, drills, etc.
The fastest and most cost-effective way to deburr and/or polish large amounts of metal parts is by using centrifugal barrel tumble machines. A centrifugal barrel finishing device, also known as an industrial tumbler and rotary tumbler, uses a cyclical sliding motion to grind the metal surface. A type of mass finishing, centrifugal barrel finish is one.
Finishes are applied at the end of a construction or manufacturing process to form the final surface of an element. They can protect the element they finish from impact, water, frost, corrosion, abrasion, and other elements, as well as be decorative.
